Welcome to Railside Cafe

We are a quaint cafe in historic Johnstown, N.Y., serving our delicious breakfast entrees all day. Choose from homemade corned beef hash, egg bread French toast, buttermilk pancakes, fluffy omelets or egg dishes as well as a variety of homemade baked goods including our own English muffins.

We have a small staff that have been with us for years. A tight-knit family dedicated to providing you and your family with a great meal in a homey atmosphere.

Meet Our Owner

Our Owner and Cook, Janet prepares everything fresh in our kitchen each day. Janet worked for the previous owner of Railside Cafe for 20 years as a waitress and cook before purchasing the Cafe in 2010. Since then she has been creating new recipes that have become favorites of our patrons.

Alongside Janet, you will meet her daughter, Lisa and her good friend, Tammy. Lisa and Tammy work great together and will ensure that you are served quickly and have a great experience.

Janet’s husband, Larry, takes care of maintenance and Chris, our dishwasher, also helps with prep.

You are welcome to sit down and enjoy a homemade meal away from home or place an order to go.

Breakfast is served all day, so you can have pancakes at noon on a Thursday if you would like – and we hope you do!
